We are now moving into our second year of the five-year Stewardship Journey. The Stewardship Journey is about giving and living as disciples of Jesus Christ. It includes elements of our membership vows: prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness.
Last fall, we began the Journey with a church-wide reading and study of Dr. John Ed Mathison’s book Treasures of the Transformed Life. The book was an overview of all five elements of being a follower of Jesus and a member of Christ’s church. Pastor Jennie delivered a series of sermons related to prayer, presence, gifts, service, and witness. Finally, our Stewardship Journey culminated with a celebration and sermon by Dr. John Ed Mathison as well as presentation of our Commitment Cards. The emphasis of the entire Journey was to commit to prayer, presence, gifts, service, and witness together and in our daily lives.
Prayer is the sole focus of this year’s Stewardship Journey. The book chosen for the church-wide study is Too Busy Not to Pray: Slowing Down to Be with God by Bill Hybels. Just like last year, we want to encourage every adult and youth at Elizabeth Lee to read, study, and participate in this church-wide book study. Join us for an in-depth study on the foundational element of prayer. The opportunity for personal spiritual growth and to strengthen our commitment to God is great! Don’t miss out!
The study begins September 25th. Book are available in the Welcome Center and at the Church Office at a cost of $5.
Join us for the Journey!
