Community Outreach

Community Outreach is a priority at Elizabeth Lee UMC. The church has been blessed to have such a central location in the community of Chickamauga. Our proximity to the school system and our presence downtown have allowed ELUMC to provide a number of services to the community. If you are looking to serve, look no further than the Community Outreach opportunities at Elizabeth Lee UMC!

What Is LOL?

LOL (Love Out Loud) is a children’s outreach ministry that meets every Wednesday from September through March. It is a partnership between Chickamauga Elementary School and Elizbeth Lee UMC. The purpose of LOL is to provide children with an afternoon one day a week where they can meet together and have fun through a variety of activities in a loving, Christian environment. The children are offered hands on enrichment programs consisting of art, music, theatre, science, and history. They are also exposed to local talent and outreach programs. If you would like to volunteer with LOL, contact Connie Capehart at

What Is SWAG?

SWAG (Saved with amazing grace), is a middle school mentoring program. They meet twice a month on Mondays at 3:00PM and usually have pizza and snacks, followed by a devotional. Some weeks they have guest speakers and other weeks they participate in fun learning experiences and work on crafts. Usually, they squeeze in enough time to play games with the kids before leaving at 5:00PM. SWAG is always searching for new volunteers to spend time with students. If you are interested in serving with SWAG, contact Leissa Boyle at

What Is 5th Quarter?

5th Quarter is a community event that takes place during every Gordon Lee High School home football game. The community and fans and family of both teams are invited to come enjoy free burgers, hot dogs, snacks, and drinks! At every 5th Quarter amazing volunteers organize live music, which includes local talent and the Elizabeth Lee UMC worship band, as well as coordinating activities and games for youth. 5th Quarter is a place families and kids can go to have fun, eat food, and enjoy themselves in a safe and healthy environment before the game, during half time, or after the game. 5th Quarter is always in search of more fantastic volunteers to help out on game nights! What Is The Food Pantry?

The Elizabeth Lee UMC Pantry was born out of a need for food security for families and individuals in the community. The pantry provides non-perishable food items, while allowing members of the community to choose the foods they prefer from a wide variety of options in the pantry. The food pantry is open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00AM to 12:00PM. Families can return every two weeks as needed. The Elizabeth Lee UMC Pantry is an outreach program that allows the church to be the hands and feet of God, serving the community and opening the doors of the church for anyone and everyone. The pantry is always in need of volunteers! If interested, contact Janice Gallaher at
