What is Imagine about?

The past few years at Elizabeth Lee have been exciting ones full of spiritual and numeric growth. As a result of our consistent growth, we are now at the point where we are out of space. Our church family has grown to the point that the Fellowship Hall can no longer accommodate everyone all at once. We have grown to the point that our Education Building classrooms can no longer accommodate all of our Sunday School classes. We have grown to the point that The Well has nearly outgrown the Lillian Ellis Center. With these challenges come exciting opportunities. As we have done in the past, we are moving forward with faith and confidence that just as God has led us in the past, he will continue to do so in the future. Embracing these opportunities means living into our God-given vision that is contained in the Master Plan.

What is the Master Plan?

Phase 1: Renovate the Education Building and acquire the Jewell Property

Phase 2: Rebuild and enlarge the Fellowship Hall by adding classrooms, parking, and property access driveways

Phase 3: Devote more space to youth ministry

Imagine and Phase 1?

Imagine how renovating the Education Building will ensure that this facility is a place where our growing children’s ministry can thrive. Imagine making room for even more children by devoting that entire building to being a place our community’s children hear about the love of Jesus for the first time. Imagine, after utilizing the Mansion for Sunday School during the renovation, the Mansion allowing us to make room for more classroom space, church office space, youth ministry space, missions space, and more. Imagine the lawn of the Mansion allowing us to expand outdoor events like 5th Quarter and other church-wide festivals. Imagine these possibilities of how disciples can be made and God’s Kingdom can be built! And that’s just Phase 1.

Imagine, with the addition of the Jewell Property, having a larger Fellowship Hall, more parking, better property access, more youth and children space, and so much more. Imagine being able to make room for more all while maintaining the beauty of our historic campus in the heart of downtown Chickamauga! That’s what Imagine and the Master Plan are all about.

How much will Phase 1 cost?

The total cost for Phase 1 is approximately $1,500,000. While that may seem like a daunting vision with an audacious goal, this is a goal we can accomplish if we all dig deep and give sacrificially. While this vision and goal might push us outside our comfort zones, the farther God pushes us outside our comfort zone, the more clearly we can see this beautiful vision he invites us to imagine. As our theme verse from Ephesians 3:20 reminds us: God is able to do far more than we could ever ask or imagine by his power at work within us. That’s why this Master Plan is possible!

So, what can I do?

1) Pray for our church, our God-given vision, and your sacrificial gift that will help make it happen.

2) Become informed by reading campaign materials, engaging in the church-wide study “Overflow”, attending upcoming events, and asking questions

3)Pray about a three year financial commitment “above and beyond” your regular ELUMC giving.
